Summer is here, and so is the Cannes Film Festival 2017. All the top film stars have booked themselves a ticket to Paris with the best dresses to walk on the red carpet. The French Riviera begins from the 17th to the 28th of May 2017. Since its beginning in the year 1946, the Cannes Film Festival has been a platform where exceptional fashion is showcased. We can expect a parade of the world’s most fashionable film stars. Several top actresses will be walking the red carpet showcasing the best evening gowns from top designers including Chanel, Gucci, and Dior. Before the official opening ceremony, several stars will take part in a daytime photocall and a pre-Cannes juror’s dinner including Marion Cotillard and Jessica Chastain.
The 11-day event of the festival is set to deliver the glitz and glamor of the film industry. This will be the 70th anniversary of the festival. Among the top names walking the red carpet are Emma Thompson, Julianne Moore, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Pattinson. The festival will open with a French film starring Marion Cotillard – on Wednesday the 17th. For the coveted Palme d’Or, there are 19 films in competition. The Julianne Moore starred movie Wonderstruck is an early favorite for the award. It is a story about a boy and a girl who are 50 years apart. Another movie that could win is Good Time which stars Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Robin Wright (The Dark of Night), Kristen Stewart (Come Swim) and Vanessa Redgrave (Sea Sorrow) will be presenting the movies made by them.
Owing to the recent terror attacks in France, security has been beefed in the event. It is also the first international event after the French Presidential Elections. Extra police forces have been deployed, and additionally, 550 security cameras have been installed. To mark the 70th anniversary of the event, L’Oreal Paris has invited 6 of their brand ambassadors to show their movies from the 17th to the 22nd of May.
The French Film Industry has announced that from the year 2018 onwards, films wanting to contend at Cannes must be screened in French pictures. Forget about movies; the main action happens in the red carpet and at the many parties held in the event. Cara Delavigne and Rihanna will be there with no film showing but for hosting a late night party.
