The ups and downs of The Kapil Sharma Show

Indian TV Channels compete a lot for TRP ratings. The person who was once known to clinch the highest TRP ratings is no other than Kapil Sharma. He made his TV debut in the Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007. He rose to prominence after winning the show for which he was awarded Rs. 10 lakhs. After that, he participated in many shows. Comedy Nights with Kapil was launched by him in the year 2013. In the show, he invited many Bollywood stars as his guests. The show was a big success, and Sharma became a sensation out of the show. It ran on Colors TV and Kapil Sharma was felicitated as the Indian of the year in Entertainment category at the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year Awards 2013. After the end of Comedy Nights with Kapil, he created a new TV show for Sony TV which was called The Kapil Sharma Show. It began to start airing from April 23rd, 2016 and is continuing till date. The show has received many positive reviews from its viewers and is aired on every Saturdays and Sundays. Kapil Sharma has previously acted in a movie, titled Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon in 2015 and will be seen in the upcoming movie Firangi.

Kapil was involved in a tiff with team member Sunil Grover while returning from their Melbourne show. Thereafter, Sunil Grover decided to quit The Kapil Sharma Show. After that, there has been a sharp decline in the show’s TRP. Such is the condition that an episode on YouTube has 26,000 likes and a massive 1, 11,900 dislikes. People trolled him in Social media, and many members of the show left the show. Apart from Sunil Grover, others who left the show were Chandan Prabhakar, Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra and Preeti Simoes. The team convinced Grover a lot to return to the show including Navjot Singh Sidhu and the Sony channel. However, Grover showed no signs of returning to the show. His image was severely damaged after the brawl. Kapil Sharma had no option but to request his former mates to come to the show. Those were Sunil Pal and Raju Srivastava. The show completed its first year on 24th April.

Kapil is known to be a humorous person. He is quick in replying and has even hosted the Filmfare Awards. He has invited several great personalities as guests on his show. These include Amitabh Bachchan, Baba Ramdev, Anna Hazare, Prem Chopra, Helen, Vishal Bhardwaj, Shahrukh Khan, Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Jackie Chan, Aishwarya Rai, Yuvraj Singh and many others.  Although the TRP ratings have drastically fallen due to the ouster of the team members, the show is slowly gaining momentum. However, it is not the same as it used to be with the previous members. Kapil is busy these days with the shooting of his upcoming movie.

We hope to see him doing great and to keep entertaining us through his comedy and charming personality.
