Love is the most eternal thing in the world. It knows no boundaries, age, period, stereotypes and restrictions. Love can happen in any age be it 20s, 30s or even 60s. A plethora of bollywood flicks portray love beautifully. Some of the movies have brought in unusual stories of love flourishing between old age populace. Let us have a look at few of these:
Life in a Metro
This star-studded film received a great deal of critical acclamation. The movie was based on the lives of urban people, their relationships and problems. The film had several characters and stories but one story received the most appreciations, the one which portrayed unconventional love. The plot was about a man named Amol (played by Dharmendra) who returned to India after 40 years to come together with his first love, Shivani (played by Nafisa Ali). The two depict longing for each other and to spend the last few years of their lives together.
This movie came as an element of surprise and brought an air of freshness in the romance genre of Indian cinema. The movie showcased a quirky love story between an old age chef and a middle-aged women. The lead characters were played by the great Amitabh Bachan and Tabu. Tabu’s father (Partesh Rawal) was against the relationship as the man she loved was even elder than him. This unusual love story was appreciated by all and was an instant hit.
Dil Chahta Hai
Who doesn’t remember this epical movie that was a tale of friendship between three guys and their love lives? Interestingly, there was an out-of-the-box romance track between Akshaye Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Akshaye falls for a divorcee played by Dimple and often meets her and tries to spend time with her. Even though romance never takes off between the two, but the idea is loved by all.
Though, the movie had a plot portraying the relationship between parent and children but we did enjoy seeing the romance between Amitabh Bachan and Hema Malini. It depicted an aged husband and wife romance in the most beautiful way. The movie had entertaining story-line, above that their strong bond and longing to be with each other was like icing on the cake for the viewers.
Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi
This movie showcased romance betwixt the middle-aged couple. This Boman Irani and Farah Khan starrer was a quirky rom-com which had an interesting idea. However, if the makers could work a bit on the story line then this flick could have turned out better. Still it was a light-hearted movie to watch.
Pyar Mein Twist
The movie is a love story between two old age divorced individuals. It begins with the usual plot of the two hating each other and finally on the way, they fall in love with each other. The twist in their love story is that their children oppose their union. The lead characters were essayed by Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.
