Will Shraddha Kapoor’s act in Haseena proves to be the role of a lifetime?

This can be seen that now even Shraddha Kapoor has decided to take the role of actors who usually look serious from the first look of Haseena. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, and Shraddha is portraying the role of urban girl Haseena Parkar, sister of the gangster Dawood Ibrahim.

In only a year, Shraddha Kapoor’s contemporaries like Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Taapsee Pannu, etc. have already portrayed such kind of roles in popular Hindi cinema. Shraddha has worked in both Baaghi and Rock on two which had something to offer small regarding depth or range for the female lead. Kapoor’s portray into playing a real life character that was once referred as Godmother of Nagpada is sure to offer young actors a chance to shift their gears.

Movies that are based on real life gangsters have been the passage for leading men in the industry. From Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar to Vinod Khanna in Dayavan, Ajay Devgan & Emraan Hashmi in Once Upon a time in Mumbai, Vivek Oberoi in Company, etc. and Shahrukh Khan’s Raees is the recent one.

The number is very small regarding women playing real life gangsters or criminals. The first example that comes to mind is Shabana Azmi in Godmother where she portrayed Santokben Jadeja who used to run mafia operations. She even bagged the national award for the movie. Besides Godmother, Seema Biswas portrayed the role of Phoolan Devi in Bandit Queen. Now, Haseena has already received enough curiosity to be counted among these two movies.

There are many movies based on the life of Dawood Ibrahim from biopic Underworld Badshah, Risk to famous Once Upon a time in Mumbai, Company, factual ones that include Black Friday, Shootout at Wadala and even the fantasy like Coffee with D, D-Day has been covered.

The genre and the character of the movie have always captured Hindi movies imagination from past decades. It was only at the time when the focus shifted to gangster based movies. Lakhia previously directed Shootout at Lokhandwala which was based on the real-life criminal Maya Dolas that was portrayed by Vivek Oberoi. Now, the same gangster story is returning to the genre with the story of Haseena. The movie also cast Shraddha’s real life brother, Siddhant Kapoor who will portray the role of Dawood.

The role will be undoubtedly the one for a lifetime for Shraddha Kapoor. The one film that came in the year 2011 was Shabri that also filled the gap. The film was based on fictional account Shabri, women from the slum who ends up shaking the matka underworld.
