BR Hills

The Biligirirangana Hills is an ideal weekend spot if you are looking to travel within 185kms from Bangalore. The drive through the wildlife sanctuary is one to cherish as you can spot a number of animals along the way. You might even spot a few tigers as you make your way up there!

Once you reach the top, you will be enthralled by a spectacular view. At the top of the cliff lies the famous temple of Ranganatha.

And how can we forget the main part? This place is famous for one of the world’s most expensive coffee made from Civet cat droppings!

 

Bandipur

Are you a nature and animal lover? Then look no more! A world heritage site, Bandipur National Park should be at the top of your list for weekend destinations. It is situated approximately 230 kms from Bangalore. You can opt to go for a wildlife safari while you are there. Here, you get to see rare species of animals and birds. There are a number of resorts here that offer plenty of attractions for visitors including a night camping.

Dandeli

If you have a long weekend, then Dandeli is your best bet. Located approximately around 462 kms from Bangalore, this place is a crowd favorite. Horsley Hills

If you are looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway, then head to the Horsley hills for a wonderful experience. In the mornings, you can enjoy sightseeing in the parks and gardens where you can see varieties of flowers. The Valley View point and the Sunset point offer breathtaking views that you wouldn’t want to miss out on. You can also check out the Horsley Hills Environment Center and Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary while you are there.

Chikmagalur

Mountains, streams, waterfalls and forests – they have it all!  This picturesque hill town located 243 kms from Bangalore should be a great weekend escape.

If you are someone who enjoys watching the sunrise or the sunset, then head to Mullayangiri as it is the tallest peak in Karnataka. You can choose to go on a walk through the coffee plantations and even sample different varieties of coffee while you are at it.

Make sure that you visit either Hebbe falls or Kallathigiri falls as they are a popular attraction.  For bird lovers, there is the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary and it should be a treat for your eyes.
